01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Simmered slowly with chicken bones and vegetables, Tenkaippin’s kotteri ramen is less a broth to sip than a rich, thick soup that clings to the noodles. Choose the classic regular bowl with green onion, menma and chashu, or go richer with Kotteri Max. For an extra pork topping, the double-chashu ramen combines pork shoulder chashu with grilled pork jowl. The menu says the jowl is grilled and served in a portion of about 80 g; one diner who ordered it noted the contrast between the two cuts and their different thicknesses.

Fried rice makes a good accompaniment when you want another dish alongside the ramen. A diner who ate here found its seasoning lighter than the ramen and enjoyed the contrast with the rich broth. The menu also offers ways to adjust the portion: you can switch to a mini ramen with half a serving of noodles or order extra noodles. Extra soup is available with kotteri ramen only.

The menu extends beyond ramen to snacks such as rich-flavoured fried chicken, gyoza with crisp, lacy edges and a plate of chashu. Draft beer and highballs are also available. The branch is described as suitable for dining solo and is open from lunchtime into the evening.
